The author makes this easy to read prescription for success in the workplace an ideal way for anyone of average education to understand. Basic principles of being determined, outlining skills, presenting a favorable image, mindful of reputation and keeping the best interests of the employer safe - all can lead to a promotion. Reviewing every few months as a check on personal progress can be a boon to those who desire to get ahead.
Everybody wants to get promoted but I think this is the first book I've heard of that actually gives you a solid, laid out plan to follow so you stand the best possible chance of achieving promotion.
It's also well written with plenty of good advice and tips in there too.
It's very detailed and I especially loved chapter 3, "the three fundamental questions"

Wow, the title say's it all, How to get Promoted. Some really, really great tips and advice, too many to talk about here but my favourite tip was #21 . To say that I was impressed by the tips and how to use them would be an understatement. Not many books can make you smile straight away, but when I started reading the first few tips, I DID start smiling, 'yes', I said to myself, this is great stuff! Bottom Line Really great tips, If you just take only 1 of the 43 tips from this book then you will be more than happy. Several gold nuggets on every page.
Even though I don't work for a company and am retired (sort of) I do have the younger generation constantly asking for my advice. And this is the exact kind of book that I like with its 40 tips. The author Ethan Powers tells us that we don't have to work on all 40 tips at once, but we should just pick out a few, maybe 3 to direct our energy on, and put some action on them and that will help. Prioritizing is one of the tips and I personally believe it is the most important thing you can do. Figure out the one most important thing and put your attention there. Another one I like is to build a relationship with everyone in the office. Read the book to see which ones resonate with you.
The first chapter essentially sums up this book. In my opinion, they are what really gets you promoted. The 40 tips that the author mentioned are quite generic tips that you can use for most situations. Of course, they help you to be promoted too but they are basically good habits that most people will benefit from. He also gave you a bonus. There were 43 tips in the book, rather than 40 tips. This book would be better in the initial and ending chapters are expanded on. Giving it 4 star as I like chapter 1.
